Cynthia Stohl is a distinguished professor of communication at University of California, Santa Barbara.

Her studies are grounded in questions of social responsibility and empirically explore the ways in which organizations, their members, and civil society constitute models of citizenship addressing issues of communication rights and emerging networks in the new media environment. Amongst her most recent works is an introduction to a co-edited special issue: Flyverbom, M., Leonardi, P.M., Stohl, C & Stohl, M (2016), “The Management of Visibilities in the Digital Age”, International Journal of Communication, 10. 98-109.
