Anders Ryom Villadsen has been awarded a large research grant for a project about workforce diversity in public organisations.

Anders Ryom Villadsen has been awarded a research grant of DKK 1,152,607 million from the Danish Council for Independent Research – Social Sciences (FSE). The project is about workforce diversity in public organisations and focuses on the effects of employee turnover and managerial intensity.

“While the Danish workforce becomes increasingly diverse, relatively little is still known about the impacts of employee diversity in public sector workplaces,” says Anders Ryom Villadsen and adds:

“My project will investigate how employee diversity in terms of age, gender and ethnicity affects the managerial intensity and the likelihood of employee turnover in the public sector.”

The project seeks to provide important knowledge about some of the opportunities and challenges associated with employee diversity. The project addresses current debates in the literature, and hopefully the knowledge derived will be useful in the future development of the public sector.

An interesting research area

According to Anders Ryom Villadsen, the grant provides him with a fantastic opportunity to dig deeper into a research area that really interests him.

“I believe my project has the potential of yielding knowledge that may have significant societal consequences. Further, it is a great opportunity to collaborate with some of the leading scholars in the world within this area of research,” Anders Ryom Villadsen concludes.

A total of seven researchers from School of Business and Social Sciences at Aarhus University have received new research grants from the Danish Council for Independent Research in June 2014. The official title of Anders Ryom Villadsen’s research project is Workforce Diversity in Public Organizations: Effects on Employee Turnover and Managerial Intensity.
