Professor MSO Athanasios Krystallis and PhD researcher Toula Perrea have received a grant from the Danish Council for Strategic Research on the frame of its International Network Programme 'Bilateral network activities in R&D with China, India, Israel, Japan, USA, Brazil and the Republic of Korea'.

The topic of the grant is the 'Exploration of inter-attitudinal constructs of Chinese and Brazilian consumers towards green and novel foods'. The two MAPP researchers will collaborate with two of the leading Business Schools in China and Brazil (Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), Guangzhou; and Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre) on the above topic.

Seen from a broader perspective, the grant concerns the exploration of the collaboration potential in the area of Food Consumer Behaviour, with emphasis on Danish food products with high possibility to be endorsed by important segments of consumers in the two emerging giants China and Brazil. The focus of this collaboration will be on two food types:

  • 'green' foods (i.e. organic)
  • 'novel' foods (i.e. produced through technological innovations).

The grant received by Athanasios and Toula will cover the stay of the two researchers for 90 days within 2013 in the above-mentioned Universities in China and Brazil, in order to organise research groups and lay the foundations of the collaboration.
