Associate Professor Polymeros Chrysochou has received a research grant of 1.1 million DKK from the Fund for Academic Cooperation and Exchange between Denmark and the Arab World.

Through a partnership between the MAPP Centre and the University of Sfax in Tunisia, the project will tackle the problem that the Tunisian olive oil industry faces with almost 75% of its olive oil being exported in bulk and unbranded. The project aim is to contribute to the development of marketing strategies that will enhance exports of Tunisian branded olive oil.

More specifically, the objectives are threefold: to study consumer preferences for olive oil in key export markets and suggest marketing strategies; to provide training and expertise in food marketing, as well as consumer behavior theories and methods to Tunisian researchers, and to disseminate knowledge to key stakeholders in the Tunisian olive oil industry.

The project will commence in January 2016 and will last for a period of 18 months.
