Conference theme

The main theme for this year’s event is Digital adaptation, disruption and survival.

Digital innovation across your organisation implies to adapt, engage, disrupt and survive with digital technology. A recent Gartner survey states that by 2017, 20% of all market leaders will lose their dominant position to a company founded after the year 2000 because of a lack of digital advantage.

Digital transformation is no longer for the most daring of businesses. Those who fail to innovate and embrace digital technology will be left behind or even go out of business. Organisations are looking at ways to keep up with the fast-paced change in customer demands, application of new technology, and how to transform organisations.

What does 'digital innovation and digital disruption' mean? Which organisations and industries are affected and how? How does it change business model and support newer forms of economy such as sharing economy? What kind of digital technology are accelerating this process? What are the downsides and critical aspects of this development?

The Digital adaptation, disruption and survival slogan will headline both IRIS41 and SCIS9, and influence keynotes and hopefully elicit insightful contributions from the authors submitting to either IRIS41 or SCIS9, but papers with other IS themes are also welcome.
