International review panel concludes that MAPP’s research is world class

An international panel has evaluated the MAPP Centre and ranked it as a leading institution in the area of food marketing

The MAPP Centre has undergone an evaluation by an international panel of experts at the end of the current five-year period. The evaluation was based on a self-evaluation report and a site visit that took place in July 2017.

The panel, consisting of Professor Ulrich Hamm from the University of Kassel (Germany), Professor Richard Shepherd from the University of Surrey (Guildford, UK), and Professor John Stanton from the St. Joseph’s University (Philadelphia, USA) concluded that the MAPP Centre “was meeting all of its objectives and has continued to be a leading, if not the leading, institution in the area of food marketing globally”. The panel also commended the scope of research topics and the interdisciplinary orientation of MAPP’s research, and was impressed by the Department of Management’s PhD programme.

For MAPP’s future work, the panel recommended to pay more attention to the role of social media in marketing, and to strengthen the focus on behavioural measures of buyer behaviour. It also recommended seeking more collaboration with partners in the USA.

MAPP Centre Director Klaus G. Grunert comments, “We really appreciate the work of the panel and are of course very satisfied with the positive remarks. The panel’s recommendations for our future work will be given full consideration in the coming period.”
