About the seminar

“Business Models and their Role in the Digital Economy”

Why does the management literature have so many different conceptions of the business model – and which is relevant for those undertaking research into the digital economy? The seminar will briefly review the state of business model research and then explain carefully the value to researchers and academics of conceiving of the business model as a model of how to engage with customers. Finally, the talk will open up the discussion to explore some of the ways this conception might be useful for addressing digital economy issues such as monetising innovation, digital materiality, programmability, scalability, and generativity.
