On 22 November 2013, Professor Helle Neergaard assumes the role of President of the The European Council of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ECSB). She will be the head of the organisation until November 2015. For the last deacde, she has attended the ECSB and been involved with the ECSB as a member of the board and as responsible for the doctoral day. She has been part of the executive committee consisting of the President, the Past President and the President Elect for the past two years.

ECSB  is a non-profit organisation with the main objective of advancing the understanding of entrepreneurship and improving the competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses in Europe. ECSB facilitates the creation and distribution of new knowledge through research, education and the open exchange of ideas between professions and across national and cultural boarders. The network of ECSB´s members covers nearly the whole of Europe geographically; it has some 400 members from over 30 countries.

ECSB organises high-quality conferences for its members, such as the RENT (Research on Entrepreneurship and Small Businesses) conference in co-operation with EIASM, and the 3EC (European Entrepreneurship Education Conference) in order to facilitate and enhance the exchange of knowledge among the ECSB members. The RENT conference has run successfully since 1987 and is now firmly established as the premier entrepreneurship research conference in Europe, which annually brings together between 2-300 leading academics, who present and debate cutting edge research in a wide variety of topics related to entrepreneurship. In addition, a number of workshops and seminars are organised around the conference, such as the policy forum, the doctoral day and the post-doc workshop.

The 3EC has established a new paradigm for entrepreneurship conferences through an innovative and untraditional format. It offers an exclusive and engaging opportunity for researchers, educators and politicians to debate and exchange their experiences of the major challenges and advances in enterprise education with a special and unique focus on Europe. The 3E inaugural conference was held in Aarhus in May this year and was organised by the iCARE research group at the Department of Business Administration.
