We are pleased to announce that Mathilde Tønnesen has been appointed to an Assistant Professorship in Management Accounting and related fields at the Department of Management, Aarhus University BSS, effective June 1, 2026.

Mathilde Tønnesen holds a PhD in Management and previously served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Accounting, Department of Management, Aarhus University.

Her research centers on the behavioral foundations of management accounting, with a particular focus on the darker side of organizational behavior, including fraud, wrongdoing, and unethical decision-making. She examines how management control mechanisms — such as incentive schemes, monitoring structures, hierarchical decision-making, and managerial role-modeling — interact with psychological processes to either facilitate or diminish unethical behavior in organizations.

We warmly congratulate Mathilde on the appointment and look forward to her continued contributions to research and teaching at the department, the ODA section and the Center for Accounting.
