From 19 to 21 June 2024, Center for Accounting hosted the international conference Manufacturing and Service Accounting Research Conference. The conference is a biannual conference focussing on management accounting in manufacturing and service companies. The conference has the aim to bridge the gap between research and practice. The conference is organised by EIASM. This year 40 management accounting scholars participated in the conference. Our local host was Associate Professor Morten Jakobsen.

The theme of the conference this year was resource scarcity, a theme chosen with the aim of addressing some of the challenges that manufacturing and service companies face regarding getting access to the right materials, at the right time, skilled employees, and the increased focus on environmental impact from production and related activities.

Friday 21 June was organised with the specific topic: Management Accounting as the driver of support and control of ESG-reporting. In the spirit of the MSAR conference, this day included people from practice, the people who are practising these important changes regarding financial reporting. The ambition of the day was to share experiences regarding implementation of the ESR-standards and ESG-reporting. The intention of bringing people from academia and people from practice together was to create inspiration for new research projects and practices. The day was organised with presentations from both a theoretical viewpoint and experiences from practice. The presentations were followed by a round-table discussion that included questions from the participants. 48 people in addition to the 40 people from the MSAR conference participated in in this ESG day.
