Visit to Embrapa in Rio de Janeiro

Jessica Aschemann-Witzel and Marija Banovic have visited Embrapa in Rio de Janeiro in the scope of the international network ‘Waste-To-Value Ideas for a Sustainable Food System: From Product to Market’

Jessica Aschemann-Witzel and Marija Banovic have visited Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) in Rio de Janeiro in the scope of the international network ‘Waste-To-Value Ideas for a Sustainable Food System: From Product to Market’.

The project is funded by the Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education and led by MAPP. The team of MAPP and AU FOOD researchers (Marianne Hammershøj and Ulla Kidmose) discussed joint manuscripts, empirical studies, and project applications with the colleagues from Embrapa (the federal food and agriculture research) and from various Universities from the state of Rio.

They learnt amongst others about product innovations using yet underused parts of tropical fruits, or bioplastics made from agro-industrial waste.

In 2020, the Embrapa researchers Rosires Deliza, Caroline Mellinger and Amauri Rosenthal will visit AU in return.

Marija Banovic and Marianne Hammershøj also represented MAPP and AU-FOOD as keynote speakers at the 13th Latin American Symposium of Food Science in Campinas, São Paulo at the session 'Advancement in Sensory Science and Consumer Studies'.
