About CHI

"Hybrid Intelligence, a sophisticated form of AI, integrates human creativity with AI capabilities, challenging the notion of uniquely human tasks. This approach emphasizes the co-evolution of AI technology and human skills, aiming for a future where AI enhances human creativity and productivity across various domains." - Center Director, Jacob Sherson

At the Center for Hybrid Intelligence (CHI), we dedicate ourselves to advancing the integration of human expertise with generative AI (GenAI) through a hybrid intelligence approach, aiming to enhance organizational change management and innovation.

Our center is built on the principles of interdisciplinary collaboration and the essential role of human intuition and creativity in AI applications. We aim to establish a collaborative network where technology complements human capabilities, ensuring that AI developments align with and strengthen organizational goals. We are committed to developing high-level knowledge and actively contributing to public discourse. By doing so, we support organizations and the broader community in navigating the complexities of AI adoption.

Key challenges

Most research and activities at the center focus on the challenges of adopting GenAI within organizations: 1) the lack of necessary IT security policies and financial support for AI tool adoption; 2) an often IT-centric approach to GenAI implementation that fails to garner support among all organizational staff; 3) inadequate training programs that do not sufficiently equip employees with the skills needed for effective GenAI utilization; and 4) the absence of a concrete leadership response to widespread concerns about AI-induced job losses.

Our Hybrid Intelligence change management framework

To address the practical and strategic challenges of adopting GenAI within organizations, we advocate our Hybrid Intelligence (HI) change management framework as a key strategy for organizational change management. This approach merges human expertise with AI's analytical power, emphasizing the critical role of human creativity and decision-making, and ensuring that AI acts as a partner, not a replacement.

Moreover, this approach aims not only to harness the full potential of GenAI to drive organizational change and innovation—thereby fostering a resilient and innovative workforce ready to meet tomorrow's challenges—but also to engage in a broader conversation about the future of digital society, ensuring that technological growth aligns with democratic values and human needs.

Vision

To demonstrate that a human-centered, hybrid intelligent, approach to AI is not just ethically important but also the most efficient in the long-term as employees and other stakeholders are empowered to turn their experience and ideas into innovative products and value streams.

Mission

To democratize GenAI for organizations by creating accessible tools and interfaces that enhance human-machine collaboration, supporting organizational creativity and decision-making.

Principles

  • Human-Centric Design: We commit to keeping humans in the loop, ensuring that our AI applications augment rather than replace human capabilities.
  • Ethical AI Use: We uphold the highest standards of ethics in AI development and implementation, ensuring our technologies are used to benefit society.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: We promote cross-disciplinary research and real-world applications of hybrid intelligence, drawing on diverse perspectives to solve complex problems.
