Gender and ethnic diversity in the public sector: Determinants and consequences
We will take point of departure in our own studies and talk about the promotion of women into management and discrimination against ethnic minority job applicants. Methodologically, we discuss experiences with doing diversity research both using observational methods and experiments.

Anders Ryom Villadsen is a professor at the Department of Management, Aarhus University. His research interests are in the areas of workforce diversity, public management, and public-private differences.
Sarah Maria Lysdal Krøtel is an assistant professor at the Department of Management, Aarhus University. Her research interests are mainly focused on organization theory, public administration, and public management, such as the effects of diversity on organizational outcomes, the impact of employee composition on performance in public-private hybrid organizations, the link between self-other ratings and absenteeism and contracting of public services.
