Towards more sustainable food systems with True Cost Accounting (TCA): Case study of a German supermarket

Abstract: True Cost Accounting (TCA) is a holistic framework that builds on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to evaluate the social and environmental externalities of products. By analyzing value chains of products, TCA makes costs in areas such as climate, soil, water, and health across a product’s life cycle transparent and highlights current market failures. While TCA can be applied across different sectors, this presentation focuses on its role in fostering more sustainable and resilient agri-food systems, enabling policymakers, businesses, and consumers to make informed decisions.

Lennart is hosted by MAPP and will visit the department 1 - 4 April.

Everyone is welcome!
