The SIM Section invites you to a SIM Research Seminar where Lina Jacobsen will give the following presentation:

The Effect of Virtual Characters on Inclusion in the Market

Abstract
The evolvement of social media means that consumers turn to other people on platforms such as Youtube or Instagram to gain inspiration in their everyday lives. Whereas most fellow consumers are humans, virtual (i.e., digital) characters increasingly appear on social communication platforms – a trend surrounded by disrupting possibilities, but also ethical considerations. In the VICIM project (starting December 2024), we will investigate the effect of virtual characters on the feeling of inclusion in the market, both among traditionally well-represented and underrepresented consumer groups.

In this presentation, I will introduce the project (background for the project idea and the research plan), a bit about the AUFF funding process, and open for discussion about potential future avenues for this project.

Everyone is welcome!
