Prestigious Falling Walls Science Breakthrough of the Year 2020 goes to MGMT

Jacob Sherson and Center for Hybrid Intelligence wins the Falling Walls ’Science and Innovation Management’ category for work on Breaking the Wall of Hybrid Intelligence.

Jacob Sherson and Center for Hybrid Intelligence has won the Falling Walls ’Science and Innovation Management’ category for work on Breaking the Wall of Hybrid Intelligence. From among almost 1000 nominees from 111 countries, competing with research from world-renowned labs such as CERN, Stanford and EPFL, Jacob Sherson was recognised as a science breakthrough leader.

“If we succeed together in creating Hybrid Intelligence, that is understanding the strengths and weaknesses of both human and artificial intelligence, and combining those in a synergetic relationship, we will see all instances of our society affected in a positive way”, says Jacob Sherson. 

The Breakthroughs of the Year were presented at the Falling Walls Berlin Science Week’s Grand Finale on the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall on 9 November 2020. Kumsal Bayazit from ElsevierConnect and jury member for Falling Walls Science Breakthroughs said: "The jury found Jacob’s approach to be a genuine breakthrough as it pushes the boundaries of citizen science and human-centered AI."
