AI in urban planning and administration at Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality

We are currently working with Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality to explore how artificial intelligence, including AI image generation tools and no-code chatbots, can enhance various everyday work processes such as administration, illustration, and urban planning. We have conducted two hands-on workshops as part of this collaboration. Our ultimate goal is to help the municipality implement AI tools to improve their work processes, better meeting the needs of citizens and stakeholders. Through this project, we have established a partnership for an international EUR Horizon grant application about inclusive sustainable planning, realizing our ambitions for sustainable development.

AI image generator tools: Shaping the future

In our collaboration with Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality, we aim to "shape the future" by making it easier for everyone to visualize and engage with upcoming changes. By using AI image generator tools like ChatGPT, stable diffusion, and crea.visions, we directly influence how urban landscapes are envisioned. These tools provide vibrant visualizations that effectively communicate future possibilities to stakeholders, moving beyond traditional text to create compelling visual narratives.

This approach not only simplifies stakeholder involvement but also improves our interaction and collaboration efficiency with them. Importantly, it ensures that community input is central to shaping our urban spaces, fostering a more collaborative planning process. This enhances creativity and efficiency, reducing the need for deep technical expertise. Through this effort, we aim to make urban planning more accessible to everyone in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality.

In the workshop, we utilized AI image generator tools to envision a potential future for a communal Christmas decoration in Ringkøbing town square and to illustrate the outcome if all surrounding shops embraced the concept. Edited using Playground.AI.

No-code chatbot: Streamlining tasks and communication

During the workshop, we also developed a chatbot. Constructed using official documents and tailored with data specific to Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality, this chatbot enhances municipal operations and administrative tasks. It also improves communication with residents, supporting community-focused involvement in the municipality. To learn more about our no-code chatbots, please click here.

According to Lise Mejlhede Kjeldbjerg, Business Consultant at the Municipality, "Right now, I see a great opportunity to test the tools in our citizen engagement processes."

We are always open to collaboration. If you're a municipality or organization interested in more details about this, please contact us here
